BLUES UP THE ANTE IN FULL-BACK CHASE

Chelsea have reportedly made a £14million take-it-or-leave it offer for Sevilla right-back Daniel Alves.

The Blues have given the Spanish club until the end of the week to accept the offer and will turn to Tottenham's Pascal Chimbonda should they fail to get their top target, according to the Daily Mirror.

Alves, who has also been linked with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League and is pressuring Sevilla to accept the offer, but the UEFA Cup holders are demanding £20million.

Should Sevilla refuse to buckle, Chelsea will move for 29 year-old Frenchman Chimbonda by offering Shaun Wright-Phillips and Glen Johnson as possible makeweights.

Chimbonda joined Spurs last summer from Wigan for £6million, but is now valued at double that.
