BLUES LINE UP ROBINSON RAID

Steve Bruce is reportedly ready to test West Brom's resolve by making an offer for left-back Paul Robinson after missing out on Paul Konchesky.

The Birmingham boss has been a busy man so far this summer, adding seven new players to his St Andrews squad.

But Bruce wants to bolster his full-back options, and has put Robinson on his wanted list.

The former Watford man is also being tracked by Roy Keane, who could firm up his interest if he fails to lure Wigan's Leighton Baines to the Stadium of Light.

But Bruce is hoping the fact Robinson, 28, would not need to relocate can give him a headstart on any deal - and is pondering putting a £2million bid on the table at The Hawthorns, according to the Birmingham Mail.

That is the fee Fulham paid for Konchesky last week, and Bruce would have no problem finding that figure despite spending heavily so far on the likes of Olivier Kapo and Garry O'Connor.

Albion boss Tony Mowbray is under no pressure to sell his star players - but has Neil Clement as a left-back option should Robinson move on.
